Our Mission
Her Journey to School’s mission is to promote gender equality through education. We work with communities to help girls stay in school, understand their rights, and change the status quo.
Why Girls?
We focus on girls because girls deserve more than they are given. In Tanzania, like in most developing countries, a girl’s educational journey is faced by many challenges and obstacles. She is expected to get married, and may drop out of school because of pregnancy and poverty. We believe that everything good you see in this world is because women have been part of it. Giving girls a chance for an education creates a platform where women can choose who they are and what they want to become. Most importantly, to become the best version of themselves. When women are educated, they are able to change their own lives and the lives of their communities.
What We Do
Mentoring and coaching girls to guide them build their self-esteem, self-worth, and know their rights.
Health education to prevent early pregnancy.
Meetings to help communities understand the value of educating girls and providing them with the tools they need to stay in school.
